The small intestine is one of the organs part of our complex and crucial digestive system. Is a very long and narrow “tube” in the digestive system that connects the stomach to the large intestine.

What Is Small Intestine

This organ of the human body is crucial, and Im going to explain why. It plays a significant role in digesting and absorbing nutrients from our food. The inner surface of the small intestine is lined with tiny finger-like projections called villi, which increase the surface area for absorption of the nutrients that come from the food we have previously ingested.

Enzymes and other digestive juices (derived from secretions of various epithelial cells) are secreted from the pancreas and liver to help break down the food further in the small intestine, allowing for the absorption of nutrients into the bloodstream.
