Here are a few facts about coloring and why you should be teaching your students how to color at an early age:

It helps children develop learning abilities:

Coloring allows children to learn about different shades and these shades enhance their memory. Being able to see and differentiate between colors is a significant milestone in a child’s cognitive development.

Children should learn to differentiate between colors at an age of 18 months old or before they are three years old.

It is a great way of improving vocabulary:

Children have a minimal vocabulary. They usually cannot find words to describe what they are feeling or how they perceive the world. By helping children recognize colors and tell them what each color looks like, you are technically helping them improve their vocabulary.

By improving their vocabulary, you are also helping them understand how to perceive the world the way they are looking at it.

Colors can help with communication:

Colors are one of the few things that almost everyone across the world can recognize. They are universal and thus are used to portray critical messages.

  • A few examples include, red being used to say “stop” or it is an emergency.
  • Green says that you are ready to go or it is safe to do something.
  • Many children learn to recognize colors faster than they recognize other linguistics.

Coloring improves coordination:

Coloring dramatically improves coordination between mind and body. Teaching children how to color will allow them to get creative by experimenting. It will give them freedom to use their curious mind into something productive. They will be able to coordinate their mind and body to color various objects and shapes.

Learning to color at an early age can develop creative abilities. Working together on coloring projects in a group will also teach children teamwork.
