Hi Teachers!

I know how busy October gets for us in the classroom,  between decorations, spooky-themed lessons, and excited little ones counting down to Halloween, it feels like we’re juggling a million things! That’s why today I’m sharing a super fun, low-prep, and engaging Halloween craftivity that your students will absolutely love: The Halloween Bat Craft.

Let me tell you all about it!

What is this Halloween Craftivity about?

This printable activity combines writing and crafting in one adorable bat-themed foldable. It’s perfect to help our students express their Halloween preferences while practicing sentence structure, vocabulary, and creativity,  all while having tons of fun.

The final result is a foldable bat where the peques write and illustrate their answers to four Halloween-themed prompts. Once finished, they fold it accordion-style, and voilà! A Halloween keepsake to hang in your classroom or take home.

What prompts do they respond to?

Our students will write and draw about:

  • My favorite Halloween character
  • My Halloween costume will be
  • My favorite Halloween candy is
  • What I love the most about Halloween

Each section includes space for writing and a little frame for their illustration, so they get to work on both literacy and art in one go!

How can we use this in class?

This activity is super flexible! Here are a few ideas:

  1. Use it as a morning work task during Halloween week.
  2. Turn it into a writing center with step-by-step instructions.
  3. Pair it with a Halloween read-aloud and let them respond as a follow-up.
  4. Display them on a bulletin board for a festive classroom decoration!

Plus, it’s ideal for ESL learners, as the structure is simple and the prompts are easy to personalize.

What skills are we working on?

With this Halloween Bat Craft, we’re reinforcing:

  • Writing complete sentences
  • Vocabulary related to Halloween
  • Fine motor skills (cutting, coloring, folding)
  • Self-expression and creativity

And best of all? The kids don’t even realize they’re practicing writing , because they’re so into the bat craft!
