Hey Teachers! We’ve created a new resource for your classroom. It consists of 8 information cards with the main characteristics about the Solar System planets. These characteristics are: size, number of moons, length of a year, length of a day, temperature and distance from the Sun. Our solar system is made up of a star, eight planets and smaller bodies such as dwarf planets, asteroids and comets.
The planets of the Solar System are divided into: inner system planets and outer system planets. The four smaller inner system planets are: Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. The four outer system planets are: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.
Personally, I like to combine these types of flashcards with visual resources so students can see and handle what they’re learning about. In this case, I use this wooden board with the different planets. On this board, you can see and place the planets, arrange them according to their distance from the Sun, and observe the size differences between them.
